NorCal Physio’s 3 Stage Approach for Athletes

Rehab: Evaluate & Alleviate

You’re dealing with pain, injury, or a limitation that's holding you back. In this stage, we focus on healing and recovery—identifying the root cause and creating a plan to get you moving again. Our goal is to reduce pain, prevent compensations, and support your body’s natural healing, so you can return to your activities without pain or limitations.

1

Build: Training & Optimization

You’re feeling stronger and ready to push forward. While some discomfort may linger, you’re at a point where we can safely start loading and training your body. This stage is all about optimizing movement patterns, building strength, and reinforcing your progress. By the end, we want you to confidently say, "I feel great— I’m back to training hard and hitting new PRs!"

2

Perform: Reflect & Refine

Congrats, you are living your ideal life! Now it’s all about maintaining it because, lets be honest- you’re going to push yourself to the limit and you’re going to need some help with recovery. We reflect on your progress, identify areas for refinement, and adjust your program as needed. Our goal is for you to proudly say, "I’m doing things I never thought possible!"

Dr JP Gloria

PT, DPT, USATF

JP is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, educator, running coach, and avid runner. He has worked across the continuum from young athletes going to the Junior Olympics to 60+ year old masters athletes breaking age group records.

He has a special interest in working with endurance athletes and those with spinal cord injuries. His deep understanding of strength training, biomechanics, and endurance training. He has helped athletes go from being injured to achieving personal bests and records.

His unique understanding of movement actually started with becoming a character animator/developer for a video game at 15 years old. This involved making human-like characters move in a realistic manner. This required an in-depth understanding of anatomy, the parts, and the proper timing of how those parts move in relation to each other.

Eventually, this curiosity shifted from looking at "how things move" to "How can I help people move." And this led to JP getting his Doctorate in Physical Therapy and his USA Track and Field Certification (USATF). Since then, he has taken people from all the way from barely walking to completing marathons and Ironman’s... even those who are 60+ years old!

NorCal Physiotherapy is my go-to for any of my athletic needs. I have been going to see Caleb for almost 4 years now, and he has always been able to fix not only my injury but address future problems I may encounter. Caleb gives me ample time each session (unlike other therapy treatments) and has given me treatments that are specific for my needs.

Being a collegiate athlete I frequently run into issues due to the constant stress I put my body under. For me, it is essential to have a Physical Therapist that I can trust and NorCal Physiotherapy is exactly that company / therapist.

About a year and a half ago, I started experiencing daily headaches. I would typically wake with a mild headache, and a few times a week would be in extreme pain by the end of the day. Any strenuous activity made it worse. After an inconclusive MRI, I was offered daily medication that may or may not have helped. I was beginning to accept that I would likely never find a solution, but the first time I spoke to Caleb about my symptoms, he was optimistic that cupping treatments would be helpful in treating my frequent headaches. And I am so happy to say that the treatments help tremendously! The frequency of my headaches has reduced drastically, and I'm no longer experiencing weekly migraines. I have mobility back in my neck, and am able to participate in day to day activities without fears that I'll end up in severe pain. If you are experiencing headaches that are interfering with your quality of life, I highly recommend giving Caleb a call.
